All tennis coaches are able to provide, minimally, rudimentary advice relating to the mental side of the game. However, should players require more personal attention, then Sutton Tennis Academy has access to specialist Tennis Sports Psychologists.
Dr. Dan Bishop, CPsychol (pictured right, at the board) is our resident psychologist; Dan also researches and lectures at Brunel University in west London. He not only provides one-to-one consultation, but also delivers regular on- and off-court workshops for players, parents and coaches. Dan works closely with players in our Pro squads in order to help improve the players’ mental approach, and has developed the Personal Progress Tracker (PPT; see right) – a personalised goal setting diary which is currently being used to good effect by a number of priority players here at Sutton.
Dan is available for private consultation and also produces personal music/performance videos – a great motivational tool for athletes. Should you have any queries, then please email Dan at : performance.conditioning@btopenworld.com
